Indian investments in the United States have reached approximately $16.4 billion, supporting around 70,800 jobs, according to a senior US official, highlighting the growing economic ties between the two countries.

Speaking at a CII India Reception on the sidelines of the SelectUSA Investment Summit in Maryland, Brandon Remington, Deputy Undersecretary at the US Department of Commerce, said Indian companies are playing an increasingly important role in the US economy.

He noted that Indian firms have also contributed about $330 million in research and development (R&D) spending and generated around $1.5 billion in exports, reflecting a broader impact beyond direct investments.

The latest figures indicate a steady expansion of Indian corporate presence in the US, particularly across sectors such as advanced manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and energy. Officials highlighted that these investments not only bring capital but also strengthen supply chains and local economies.

Earlier estimates by the Confederation of Indian Industry in 2023 had pegged Indian investments in the US at around $40 billion, supporting nearly 425,000 jobs, suggesting that Indian companies have been consistently expanding their footprint.

Recent developments further underline this trend. Indian pharmaceutical major Sun Pharmaceutical Industries recently announced a $12 billion acquisition of Organon & Co, marking one of the largest outbound deals by an Indian firm.

According to Indian Embassy officials, Indian companies are making growing contributions to employment, innovation, and community development across the US. Investments in R&D and corporate social responsibility initiatives have further strengthened bilateral economic engagement.

With several Indian firms expected to announce new investments at the ongoing summit, the momentum in India-US investment flows is likely to continue, reinforcing strategic and economic ties between the two countries.
