Amazon to Cut Up to 15% of HR Jobs Amid Restructuring Efforts

Amazon is planning to reduce its human resources (HR) workforce by up to 15%, affecting its People eXperience and Technology (PXT) division, which comprises over 10,000 employees globally. This move is part of a broader restructuring initiative aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and adapting to evolving business needs.

The PXT team, led by Senior Vice President Beth Galetti, plays a crucial role in recruitment, compensation, and employee services. The upcoming layoffs are expected to impact various roles within this division, though specific details regarding the number of affected employees and the timeline for these changes have not been disclosed.

This announcement follows a series of workforce reductions across other departments within Amazon. Earlier this year, the company disclosed plans to eliminate approximately 14,000 managerial positions globally as part of a strategy to streamline operations and reduce costs. Additionally, several hundred employees were laid off from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in July 2025.

CEO Andy Jassy has emphasized that these restructuring efforts are necessary to maintain a leaner and more agile organizational structure. He noted that the company had experienced significant growth in its workforce during the pandemic and is now recalibrating to align with current business priorities.

Despite these reductions, Amazon plans to hire 250,000 seasonal workers for the upcoming holiday season across its U.S. fulfillment and transportation networks, maintaining its commitment to meeting increased demand during peak periods.
