AI Is Rewiring Film Production Economics

India’s film industry is entering a structural shift as rising production costs collide with growing demand for visually rich storytelling. High-end VFX, stylised inserts, and complex environments remain expensive and time-intensive, limiting creative ambition for many filmmakers. AI-native production workflows are now emerging as a way to compress timelines, reduce costs, and expand what is creatively possible without compromising cinematic quality.

Funding Snapshot

AI-native film studio TakeTwo has secured fresh capital in a pre-seed round at a ₹100 crore valuation. The round saw participation from Afore Capital and Inovia Capital.
The funding will be used to build deeper technical infrastructure and scale its team of creative technologists.

What TakeTwo Is Building

Co-founded in 2025 by Rudresh Upadhyaya and Raghav Katta, TakeTwo positions itself as an AI-native film studio rather than a point-tool provider. The company embeds AI directly into professional film workflows, enabling directors and production houses to execute VFX-heavy sequences, surreal environments, and stylised visual IP at a fraction of traditional costs.

TakeTwo operates as a full-stack studio, blending AI-generated elements with live-action footage in formats that integrate seamlessly into standard editing and colour-grading pipelines. Its approach focuses on staying invisible to the final workflow, allowing filmmakers to adopt AI without rethinking how films are made.

Why This Matters for Indian Media

With India’s media and entertainment market projected to grow from $30 billion in 2024 to $48 billion by 2030, studios that lower production friction will shape the next wave of content. TakeTwo’s early traction with leading Indian directors signals that AI-assisted cinema is moving from experimentation to mainstream adoption. For founders, the insight is clear: AI’s biggest impact in creative industries will come from infrastructure that empowers artists, not replaces them.
