Wind Energy Needs Smarter O&M as Assets Age
India’s wind energy capacity has grown steadily over the last decade, but a large portion of installed turbines are now entering mid-to-late lifecycle stages. Asset owners are increasingly focused on improving uptime, extending turbine life, and protecting returns rather than adding new capacity alone. This shift is pushing demand toward advanced operations, maintenance, and data-driven asset management platforms.
Funding Snapshot and Deployment Plan
Coimbatore-based GreenTech has raised ₹30 crore (around $3.6 million) in its first institutional funding round. The round, comprising a mix of equity and debt, was led entirely by Transition VC.
The capital will be used to expand global infrastructure, upgrade AI- and ML-led predictive maintenance engines, strengthen SCADA analytics platforms, and accelerate business development across India and key international wind markets.
What GreenTech Is Building
Founded in 2018 by Daniel Raj, GreenTech operates as an independent service provider offering end-to-end wind turbine O&M and asset management. Its services span predictive and preventive maintenance, corrective and major corrective services, full-scope O&M, SCADA modernisation, blade inspection, crane-less component replacement, and in-house repair across mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems. The company manages multi-brand wind assets across major wind-rich Indian states and has an expanding presence in Southeast Asia.
Why This Funding Matters
GreenTech plans to deepen its analytics engine, scale AI-driven predictive maintenance, and expand its repair and refurbishment facility into a multi-disciplinary hub covering generators, gearboxes, and electronics. With a supply-chain ecosystem of over 100 suppliers and operations extending into markets such as Vietnam and Sri Lanka, the funding reflects rising investor confidence in asset-life extension and efficiency-led climate businesses. For Indian founders, this round signals that infrastructure-tech and deep O&M capabilities are becoming core to the next phase of renewable energy growth.
