0

Music licensing startup Hoopr has raised ₹4 crore in the first tranche of its Pre-Series A round led by Inflection Point Ventures (IPV), with participation from multiple family offices and existing investors. The company is in advanced talks to expand the round further. With this tranche, Hoopr’s post-money valuation rises to ₹160 crore, taking its total capital raised to ₹18 crore.

Funding to Power Hoopr Smash and Global Expansion

The new capital will be used to scale Hoopr Smash, the company’s intelligent discovery and licensing engine, while accelerating product innovation, hiring, and global market expansion. Hoopr Smash enables creators to access curated playlists, advanced search tools and instant licensing workflows, ensuring legal, high-quality music selection with minimal friction.

A Marketplace Built for Creators and Artists

Founded in 2021 by Gaurav Dagaonkar and Meghna Mittal, Hoopr operates as a music licensing marketplace offering over 12,000 copyright-free tracks and sound effects. The platform serves creators, brands and agencies, while also functioning as a revenue channel for musicians — who receive 50% of licensing fees after upfront costs are recovered.

Growing Demand From India’s Creator Economy

Hoopr has onboarded more than 30,000 creators, including Chef Ranveer Brar, Ashish Vidyarthi, Tanya Khanijow, Flying Beast and other leading digital personalities. On the enterprise side, the company works with 180+ B2B clients, among them Myntra, Marico, Sony LIV, Mumbai Indians, Meesho, Cadbury and Himalaya.

Deep Partnerships Across the Music Ecosystem

The startup has signed strategic partnerships with Yash Raj Films Music, Universal Music, Saga Music, Merchant Records and Adobe, while working closely with IPRS. Over the last three years, Hoopr has collaborated with 300+ independent artists across 21 regional labels and distributed ₹4.5 crore in royalties.

Final Take

Hoopr’s latest funding signals strong investor belief in India’s expanding creator economy, where demand for licensed, copyright-safe music is surging. With deeper tech, partnerships and global ambition, Hoopr is positioning itself as the backbone of compliant audio for digital content.
