Paar Autonomy, a next-generation robotics startup developing perception hardware and agentic artificial intelligence (AI) for unmanned vehicles, has raised Rs 3.5 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by Venture Catalysts.
The funding will be used to commission the startup’s first manufacturing line, deliver pilot units to defence and PSU customers, and expand engineering and business development teams. Paar Autonomy is also exploring collaborations with defence establishments, PSUs, and international OEMs to supply turnkey gimballed payloads and licensable AI models for retrofitting UAVs, UGVs, and USVs.
Startup Edge
Founded in 2024 by Vignesh Jayaraman, former head of product at a leading Indian drone startup, Paar Autonomy builds multi-sensor, gyro-stabilised gimbal cameras that give unmanned aerial, ground, and maritime vehicles “super-human” perception. These are paired with proprietary agentic AI models enabling machines to interpret complex environments, coordinate with operators, and collaborate in real time.
The startup is initially focusing on the global defence market, where perception and autonomy solutions for drones alone are estimated at $6 billion, with ground and maritime robotics expected to add $4–5 billion by 2030. Its dual-use technology also targets industrial inspection, infrastructure monitoring, and disaster response applications.
Market & Growth
By combining advanced hardware, AI-driven autonomy, and Made in India IP, Paar Autonomy aims to compete with global autonomy players while scaling internationally. The startup plans to leverage its pre-seed funding to deliver pilot units, refine production, and deepen R&D in perception and agentic AI systems.
Final Take
With its dual focus on defence and civilian applications, Paar Autonomy is carving a niche in the $10+ billion global unmanned vehicle market, positioning India as a hub for cutting-edge perception and AI-enabled robotics.
