India’s drone ecosystem just cleared for takeoff and Garuda Aerospace is leading the flight path.
Chennai-based drone startup Garuda Aerospace, founded by Agnishwar Jayaprakash, has secured an export license to supply drones across international markets, including the US, Australia, and the Middle East.
With this clearance, Garuda becomes one of the first Indian drone companies to formally break into the global supply chain marking a milestone for both Make in India manufacturing and India’s emerging deeptech exports.
Known for its multi-sector drone solutions spanning agriculture, infrastructure, delivery, and disaster response Garuda has already built a presence at home with over 750 drones deployed across sectors. From helping ISRO deliver medical supplies to aiding rescue missions during the Uttarakhand avalanche, their drones have proven scale and utility.
And behind the scenes? Quiet support from brand ambassador and investor Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who continues to give Garuda strategic visibility across sectors and states.
During COVID-19, Garuda deployed 300+ drones across 26 cities for disinfection, proving it could move fast and build responsibly at scale even in a crisis.
Now, the startup is preparing to do the same overseas.
As global demand for dual use drone tech rises especially across agriculture, logistics, and security Garuda’s move reflects a broader shift: Indian drone startups are no longer just local enablers. They’re ready to be global suppliers.
Garuda’s export license isn’t just paperwork.
It’s a launchpad for India’s drone play to move from regional pilots to global impact.
