Pet food startup Zoomies has raised Rs 5 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by D2C Insider Super Angels, with participation from angel investors including Pallavi Mohadikar, Unacademy co-founders Gaurav Munjal and Roman Saini, and Astrotalk CEO Puneet Gupta, among others. The fresh capital will be used to strengthen manufacturing and supply chain capabilities, scale brand-building initiatives including influencer-led campaigns, and expand distribution across quick commerce platforms.

Building a clean and transparent pet nutrition brand

Co-founded in September 2025 by Sumedh Battewar and Spriha Choubey, Zoomies is focused on addressing gaps in the pet food industry. The startup aims to replace ultra-processed pet food products that often lack ingredient transparency and rely on fillers or synthetic additives. It offers clean-label, nutritionally balanced products designed to provide better quality and transparency at accessible price points.

Product strategy focused on quality and affordability

The Pune-based startup is launching with a complete range of cat food products along with a limited selection for dogs. Its pricing strategy spans both mass-market and premium segments, including products built using freeze-dried technology. This dual positioning allows Zoomies to cater to a wide range of pet owners while maintaining a focus on product quality and nutritional value.

Expanding through D2C and quick commerce channels

Zoomies plans a pan-India rollout through its direct-to-consumer platform and marketplaces like Amazon, while leveraging quick commerce platforms for faster reach in cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai. With the Indian pet food market growing at nearly double the pace of traditional FMCG categories, the startup is positioning itself to capture demand in the premium and health-focused segment.
