Pilot Enables Users to Shop on Zomato, Swiggy, and Zepto via AI Conversations
Razorpay and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) have partnered to introduce Agentic Payments on Claude, enabling users to complete purchases directly within AI conversations. The offering, unveiled at the India AI Impact Summit, is currently in pilot with a limited set of users.
The integration allows users to order food, groceries, and daily essentials from platforms such as Zomato, Swiggy, and Zepto without leaving the AI interface.
UPI Reserve Pay Enables Secure Agent-Led Transactions
The platform combines Razorpay’s Agentic Payments infrastructure with NPCI’s UPI ecosystem and Claude’s conversational capabilities. Using UPI Reserve Pay, users can authorise spending limits for merchants, allowing multiple purchases without repeated PIN authentication while maintaining real-time control and consent management.
For example, users can ask Claude to order food based on their preferences. The AI assistant identifies options, presents recommendations, and completes the transaction after user approval using UPI-powered payment infrastructure.
India Positioned as Early Leader in AI-Powered Commerce
The partnership reflects a broader shift toward AI-driven commerce, where conversational assistants integrate product discovery, decision-making, and payments into a single experience. By embedding payments directly into AI workflows, companies aim to simplify transactions and improve user convenience.
India’s widespread UPI adoption and high digital transaction frequency provide a strong foundation for agent-led commerce models. The pilot signals how AI assistants could evolve into full-service commerce platforms, combining discovery, decision-making, and payments within a unified interface.
