Zscaler and Bharti Airtel have partnered to launch the AI & Cyber Threat Research Centre – India, a national initiative aimed at strengthening cyber resilience and accelerating the adoption of trusted artificial intelligence across critical sectors. The centre will focus on protecting industries such as telecommunications, banking, and energy, which are essential to India’s economic and national security.
National Collaboration Platform to Build Cybersecurity Ecosystem
The research centre will serve as a multi-stakeholder collaboration platform involving private companies, public institutions, academia, and government agencies. The initiative is designed to strengthen India’s cyber defense capabilities while building a future-ready cybersecurity talent pipeline. It aligns with India’s broader vision of building a digitally secure and self-reliant technology ecosystem.
Jay Chaudhry, CEO, Chairman, and Founder of Zscaler, said India’s digital infrastructure requires modern security frameworks. He said legacy security systems are not sufficient for protecting large-scale digital ecosystems and emphasised the need for Zero Trust architecture to secure critical infrastructure.
Combining Global Threat Intelligence With Local Network Insights
As part of the initiative, Zscaler will deploy an India-focused threat research team leveraging its Zero Trust Exchange platform, which processes over 500 billion daily transactions globally. The platform will help identify emerging threats and strengthen proactive cybersecurity measures.
Bharti Airtel will contribute telecom network intelligence, including IoT and mobile traffic visibility, to improve threat detection and response coordination.
Gopal Vittal, Executive Vice-Chairman of Bharti Airtel, said the partnership strengthens the company’s commitment to securing India’s digital infrastructure and supporting a resilient digital economy.
