Zepto Tests Slotted Delivery as QCom Platforms Race for Convenience

0

Quick commerce platform Zepto has launched a slotted delivery feature in select locations, giving customers the option to schedule orders within specific time windows instead of relying solely on instant delivery. The pilot rollout is currently live in Delhi and Bengaluru, marking Zepto’s first move into planned delivery scheduling.

How Zepto’s Slotted Delivery Works
Unlike traditional qcom delivery which focuses on fulfilling orders in 10–20 minutes Zepto’s new feature lets users place an order in the morning and choose a preferred delivery window later the same day. Customers also have the flexibility to cancel the order up to 30 minutes before the chosen time slot.

This makes Zepto only the second major qcom platform, after BigBasket, to offer both scheduled and instant delivery options.

How It Differs From BigBasket’s Scheduling Model
While BigBasket has long offered planned deliveries with one-hour slots up to six days in advance, Zepto’s model is intentionally more restricted focused on same-day scheduling only.
BigBasket: Slots available up to 6 days ahead; 1-hour delivery windows
Zepto: Same-day delivery windows; cancellable up to 30 minutes prior

Zepto’s approach aims to balance speed with predictability, offering customers planning flexibility without compromising its qcom efficiency.

More Convenience Features Across QCom Platforms
The launch comes just a day after Blinkit introduced a feature allowing users to add more items after an order is placed, without extra delivery fees. Customers can modify their order while it is still being packed—addressing last-minute needs and reducing the need for multiple orders.

Meanwhile, qcom platforms continue testing new verticals and features:
Zepto Super Mall: A pilot for high-value and premium products
Zepto Diagnostics: In-app diagnostics under its pharma category
Swiggy Maxxsaver: A feature designed to increase cart size
Swiggy Food on Train: A new service available across 122 railway stations

Why This Matters
As competition intensifies, qcom players are experimenting with hybrid delivery models, value-added services, and new categories to strengthen customer retention and increase order frequency. Slotted delivery signals Zepto’s intent to enter the planned purchase segment without diluting its core instant delivery promise.
