Singapore-based Sembcorp Industries has announced that its subsidiary Sembcorp Green Infra will acquire ReNew Sun Bright Pvt. Ltd. for approximately S$246 million (US$191 million or ₹1,690 crore), marking its third major acquisition in India’s renewable energy sector within three years.
The acquisition adds 300 MW of operational solar capacity located in Fatehgarh, Rajasthan, to Sembcorp’s renewable energy portfolio. The project, commissioned in November 2021, operates under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL) and is connected to India’s national grid via the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS).
With this deal, Sembcorp’s total renewable portfolio in India rises to 6.9 GW, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s leading clean energy players. The acquisition will be financed through a mix of internal cash resources and external borrowings, with completion expected in the first half of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
According to a US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing, ReNew Energy Global has agreed to sell the 300 MW asset at an enterprise value of $191 million. The transaction is expected to generate around $98 million in net cash inflows for ReNew, after closing adjustments.
Globally, Sembcorp Industries manages a diversified energy portfolio of 27.4 GW, including 19.3 GW of renewable capacity, spanning 11 countries. This latest acquisition builds on Sembcorp’s earlier purchases of Vector Green (2023) and Leap Green Energy (2024), both independent renewable power producers in India.
Founded in 2008, Sembcorp Green Infra now operates renewable assets across 13 Indian states, underscoring its long-term commitment to India’s clean energy transformation.
