EV charging infrastructure startup RoadGrid has raised Rs 12 crore (around $1.33 million) in a pre-Series A funding round as it looks to scale manufacturing and accelerate the nationwide rollout of charging infrastructure.

Funding round and investors

The round was led by Venture Catalysts, with participation from strategic and angel investors including Kamal Puri of Skyline Group, IPV, FAAD Network, LetsVenture, Vrinda Goyal of Pace Group, Haresh Patel of Arthanomics, and Maneesh Shrivastav of Alpha Value.

Use of proceeds

RoadGrid said the capital will be deployed to scale up manufacturing capabilities, expand software integrations, and speed up the deployment of charging stations across key markets in India. The company is also investing in strengthening its backend technology to improve charging reliability and the end-user experience.

Product and technology focus

The startup is building patented universal EV chargers designed to work seamlessly across vehicle categories, including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers. Alongside hardware, RoadGrid is developing a cloud-based software platform to manage charging operations, monitor utilisation, and support efficient station management.

Business model and deployments

RoadGrid operates across two business segments. The first focuses on manufacturing and supplying chargers to electric vehicle original equipment manufacturers, addressing off-board and fast DC charging needs. The second involves setting up and operating public and commercial charging stations.

The company has active deployments in locations such as Indore and Noida, as well as at select Indian Oil Corporation sites. It also claims a confirmed pipeline of more than 1,000 chargers and supplies charging solutions to EV manufacturers and fleet operators, including Euler Motors and VinFast’s India network.

Founders and vision

Founded by Deepesh Shrinath, Chandraprakash Akotkar, and Shashank Narayan, RoadGrid is focused on building interoperable, scalable charging infrastructure to support India’s rapidly growing electric mobility ecosystem.
