Recove, a B2B startup digitising India’s plastics recycling supply chain, has raised ₹5.3 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by Momentum Capital. The round also saw participation from industry veterans including Ganesh Natarajan (ex-CEO, Aptech & Zensar), Ashish Goel (Co-founder, Urban Ladder), Chaitanya Kejriwal, and Shruti Deorah.
The capital will help Recove scale its digital marketplace across India, establish pre-processing hubs, and deepen its network of recycling partners.
Solving a Broken Recycling Chain
Founded in 2024 by Viral Chhajer, Nirja Bhatt, and Sharan Subaiah, Recove is building a tech-enabled B2B marketplace for plastic recyclables. Its platform connects suppliers of plastic waste with recycling companies, supported by an in-house pre-processing infrastructure that ensures quality and consistency.
By merging digital procurement with physical pre-processing, Recove aims to deliver reliable raw materials to recyclers while offering waste generators higher realisations for their plastic waste.
Early Traction
In just one year of operations, Recove has worked with over 30 recycling companies across India, helping streamline procurement and improve efficiency in a highly fragmented industry.
Why It Matters
India generates more than 3.5 million tonnes of plastic waste annually, yet the recycling sector remains unorganised and inefficient. By formalising the supply chain, Recove is addressing both sustainability and scalability positioning itself as a critical enabler in the circular economy.
Market Watch
As global regulations tighten around plastics and extended producer responsibility (EPR) compliance, platforms like Recove could become central to ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in recycling. The question is how fast the startup can scale its pre-processing infrastructure to match demand.
Final Take
Recove’s blend of tech, trust, and transparency signals the next phase for India’s recycling ecosystem. If successful, the startup won’t just digitise procurement it could redefine how India tackles plastic waste at scale.
