Primebook Raises $250K to Strengthen PrimeOS and AI-Powered Cloud PC Stack

Android-laptop maker Primebook has secured an additional $250,000 in a mix of primary and secondary investments from Ekamya Capital, following its $2 million pre-Series A round earlier this year that valued the company at $15 million. The latest infusion reinforces Primebook’s product roadmap as it scales its Android-based computing ecosystem.

Funding to Boost PrimeOS, AI Infrastructure and Cloud PC Capabilities

The company said the capital will accelerate development of its proprietary operating system, PrimeOS, while strengthening its AI layer, Companion Mode, and the underlying Cloud PC architecture that supports remote productivity for learners. The funds will also be used to deepen brand trust, expand affordability initiatives, and widen accessibility across India’s student and youth segments.

Primebook positions itself as a hybrid hardware-software company focusing on affordable, student-centric computing tailored for modern online learning environments.

A Student-First Android Laptop Built for Learning

Founded in 2018 by Aman Verma and Chitranshu Mahant, Primebook builds laptops powered by PrimeOS, a customised Android-based operating system designed for familiarity and ease of use. The system supports native Android applications, multi-window multitasking, seamless app switching, a desktop-style UI, and a keymapping system that converts touch gestures into keyboard actions for learning and creation-focused apps.

PrimeOS also integrates AI-powered global search, offline-first productivity tools, and Cloud PC functionality that extends computing capability beyond local hardware.

Reimagining Affordable Computing for Young India

Primebook says its hardware-software ecosystem represents a new category of accessible personal computing for students navigating blended and digital education. The company aims to combine R&D-led design with cost-effective manufacturing to enable India’s youth to learn, create and work using an OS built around their digital habits.

Final Take

As India witnesses a surge in student-focused EdTech infrastructure, Primebook’s Android-first computing model offers a distinctive pathway for affordable, AI-enhanced personal learning devices.
