Ola Electric Mobility Limited has issued an official response following media reports and police proceedings linking its CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, and senior official Subrat Kumar Dash to the death of employee K Aravind, who died by suicide in Bengaluru last month.

According to reports, the Bengaluru police registered a case on October 6, 2025, after Aravind’s brother filed a complaint alleging workplace harassment and financial irregularities. The complaint referenced a 28-page handwritten note recovered from Aravind’s residence, which reportedly detailed stress and non-payment of dues. Aravind, a 38-year-old engineer in Ola Electric’s homologation department since 2022, consumed poison on September 28 and later passed away at Maharaja Agrasena Hospital. The case was later registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions concerning abetment of suicide. The family also raised concerns over a ₹17.46 lakh transfer to Aravind’s account two days after his death.

In its regulatory filing on October 21, Ola Electric expressed condolences and stated that Aravind had not raised any complaints regarding employment or working conditions. The company confirmed that it promptly processed his final settlement to support his family and clarified that Aravind’s role did not involve direct interactions with top management.

Ola Electric also mentioned that the FIR has been legally challenged in the Karnataka High Court, which granted protective relief to its officials, and emphasized full cooperation with the ongoing investigation. The company highlighted that no chargesheet has been filed and that the matter does not currently qualify as a material event under SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015.

The incident follows a similar case in May, involving Nikhil Somwanshi, a machine learning engineer at Ola’s AI unit, Krutrim. Ola clarified that Somwanshi was on personal leave at the time of the incident.

This development has drawn attention to workplace practices in India’s fast-growing EV and tech sectors, underlining the importance of employee welfare and transparent processes.
