How Did IDfy Win the MeitY–NeGD DPDP Innovation Challenge?
Digital identity verification and privacy technology company IDfy has won the Code for Consent: The DPDP Innovation Challenge, organised by the MeitY Startup Hub in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The recognition highlights the company’s growing role in helping enterprises prepare for compliance with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.
The innovation challenge assessed consent management platforms on their technical capabilities, functional performance, and legal readiness through live demonstrations. The objective was to identify solutions capable of supporting enterprise-scale implementation of India’s evolving data privacy framework.
IDfy emerged as the winner after demonstrating the capabilities of Privy, its enterprise privacy and data governance platform, designed to help organisations manage consent, discover sensitive data, and strengthen regulatory compliance.
What Is Privy by IDfy?
Privy is IDfy’s enterprise privacy and consent management platform built to help organisations comply with data protection regulations, including the DPDP Act.
The platform offers capabilities such as consent governance, data discovery, data classification, and privacy management, enabling businesses to build structured compliance frameworks while improving visibility into how personal data is collected, stored, and processed.
As Indian businesses prepare for the implementation of the DPDP Act, consent management platforms like Privy are expected to play an increasingly important role in ensuring regulatory compliance and strengthening customer trust.
How Widely Has Privy Been Adopted?
According to the company, Privy has already been deployed across more than 50 enterprises, collectively covering nearly 500 million users.
The platform has processed approximately 70–80 million consent notices and is being used by organisations across multiple industries, including:
- Banking
- Insurance
- Fintech
- Telecom
- E-commerce
- Other regulated sectors
The large-scale deployment highlights the platform’s ability to manage enterprise-grade privacy operations while helping organisations prepare for stricter data protection requirements.
Why Is This Recognition Important?
The Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act represents one of India’s most significant regulatory reforms for data privacy and digital governance.
As organisations prepare for implementation, businesses require technology platforms capable of managing user consent, governing personal data, and maintaining compliance with evolving regulatory standards.
Winning the MeitY–NeGD DPDP Innovation Challenge positions IDfy among the leading companies developing enterprise-ready privacy infrastructure for India’s digital economy.
The recognition also demonstrates increasing government support for homegrown technology solutions that can help enterprises implement privacy regulations efficiently and at scale.
What Lies Ahead for IDfy?
With growing enterprise adoption and recognition from a government-backed innovation programme, IDfy is expected to continue expanding Privy across sectors where privacy compliance is becoming business-critical.
The company believes that stronger consent governance, data visibility, and privacy management will become essential as organisations implement the DPDP Act and strengthen their overall data governance frameworks.
IDfy also said interactions can be arranged with Malcolm Gomes, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Privy, to discuss the significance of the recognition, India’s evolving DPDP landscape, and enterprise privacy readiness.
