Insurance Brokerages Are Rethinking Back-Office Dependence
For decades, insurance brokerages have relied on large BPO teams to manage policy checking, claims analysis, certificates, and compliance-heavy servicing tasks. While this model enabled scale, it also introduced delays, fragmented handoffs, rising costs, and operational risk. With brokerages under pressure to improve turnaround times without expanding headcount, AI-led workflow automation is emerging as a structural alternative.
Funding Snapshot
US-based insurtech startup Fulcrum has raised $25 million in combined Seed and Series A funding. The round was led by CRV, with participation from South Park Commons, Foundation Capital, and other insurance and technology angel investors.
What Fulcrum Is Building
Co-founded by Arjun Mangla (CEO) and Sambhav Anand (CTO), Fulcrum is an AI platform designed specifically for insurance brokerages. Its AI agents automate high-volume, error-prone servicing workflows such as coverage and claims analysis, proposal generation, policy checking, certificate issuance, and client and carrier sales preparation.
By embedding directly into brokerage workflows, Fulcrum aims to replace multi-layered BPO processes with faster, more consistent AI-led execution, reducing operational risk and compliance exposure.
Early Adoption and Market Signal
Fulcrum claims that nearly half of the top 50 insurance brokerages in the US are already customers, signalling strong adoption among large, data-intensive firms that historically depended on offshore teams for quality assurance and servicing. The platform is positioned to help brokerages scale accuracy and speed without proportional increases in cost or staff.
Why This Funding Matters
Fulcrum’s raise reflects a broader shift in enterprise software, where AI is no longer an assistive layer but a replacement for legacy operating models. For founders, the signal is clear: sectors long dominated by services and outsourcing are now ripe for AI-native platforms that directly own mission-critical workflows.
