Biotechnology startup CrisprBits has raised $3 million in a Pre-Series A round led by Spectrum Impact, the family office of Rajendra Gogri of Aarti Industries. Existing investor Vijay Alreja Family Office (VJ Technologies Group) and new backers from the promoter family of HBL Engineering also participated, taking the company’s valuation to $12 million.
Scaling PathCrisp and Global Diagnostics Expansion
The fresh capital will be used to accelerate the commercial rollout of PathCrisp, the company’s CRISPR-based molecular diagnostics platform. Funds will also be deployed toward expanding manufacturing capacity for test kits across human health, food safety and animal health. CrisprBits plans to strengthen its production infrastructure and support growing demand from both domestic and emerging global markets.
The company aims to introduce its CRISPR diagnostics to regions across Africa and Latin America over the next six months, marking a significant step in its global expansion roadmap.
CRISPR Platforms Across Diagnostics, Gene Editing and Therapeutics
Founded by Vijay Chandru, Sunil Arora, Rajeev Kohli, Bharat Jobanputra and Aditya Sarda, CrisprBits operates a 7,300 sq ft CRISPR R&D and prototype facility in Bengaluru. The startup builds three core platforms:
• PathCrisp — molecular diagnostics for rapid and accurate testing
• EdiCrisp — strain engineering and gene editing
• CurieCrisp — preclinical and rare disease-targeted therapeutics
Beyond diagnostics, CrisprBits is developing a CRISPR-driven strain engineering platform beginning with applications in biofuel production, aiming to support cleaner, more efficient industrial processes.
Deepening R&D With AI-Enabled Innovation
The company also plans to build an AI-augmented strain engineering system to expand its sustainability-focused pipeline. This combines computational biology, CRISPR engineering and automation to accelerate design cycles for industrial biotechnology.
Final Take
As global demand for rapid diagnostics and engineered biological systems accelerates, CrisprBits’ CRISPR-led platforms position it as a rising force in India’s deeptech biotech landscape.
