ASG Eye Hospital, one of India’s largest super-speciality eye-care networks, has unveiled an ambitious expansion strategy with an investment of ₹2,000 crore to scale its national presence from 175-plus centres to 600–700 centres by 2030. The plan is backed by existing investors General Atlantic and Kedaara Capital, and is aimed at meeting rising demand for quality ophthalmic care in tier-2 and tier-3 markets. ASG currently operates across 95+ cities with over 175 hospitals and 200 vision centres.
Three-Pillar Growth Roadmap to 2030
ASG’s strategy is built on three pillars:
• Acquisitions: The company plans 8–10 targeted acquisitions annually, modelled on its successful integration of Vasan Eye Care, to consolidate regional and niche practices.
• New Multispeciality Hospitals: ASG will open 5–7 multispeciality eye hospitals every year, offering full-spectrum ophthalmic services.
• District-Level Expansion: Around 100 district centres per year will be added, with a focus on underserved northern and eastern states.
Funding Strategy and Deployment Timeline
Managing director and CEO Arun Singhvi said the ₹2,000-crore investment will support ASG’s expansion into nearly 500 districts. Funding will come from a mix of internal accruals, debt, and a new capital raise. ASG expects to secure ₹1,000 crore in primary funding over the next 12–18 months through a private placement or public offering. The full investment will be deployed over four years, up to 2030. ASG’s ownership model also allows 20% local partner stakes at each centre.
Driving Consolidation and Preventable Vision Care
ASG aims to accelerate consolidation in India’s $5.5-billion eye-care market, addressing the fact that over 80% of vision loss in India is preventable. The chain plans to reduce treatment costs through centralised procurement, digital workflows, and standardised clinical protocols.
Technology, Training and PPPs to Support Expansion
ASG will invest in tele-ophthalmology, clinician training, R&D, imaging innovation, and public-private partnerships to extend specialist access to low-resource regions. Its Vision 2030 plan builds on two decades of operational expertise and the turnaround of Vasan Eye Care, positioning ASG to deliver affordable, standardised eye care nationwide.
