Mukesh Ambani-led FMCG arm sharpens beauty and personal care push
Reliance Industries’ FMCG subsidiary, Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), has acquired the global rights to four international personal care brands—Brylcreem, Toni & Guy, Badedas, and Matey—the company disclosed alongside its results for the quarter ended December 31, 2026.
RCPL did not disclose the financial terms of the transactions. The company said it plans to expand these heritage brands in India while scaling their presence across select international markets, with a few territories excluded.
Building a global beauty and grooming portfolio
According to Reliance, the acquisitions span key grooming and bathing categories, strengthening RCPL’s ambition to build a global-facing beauty and personal care portfolio rooted in trusted brands.
- Brylcreem: A British men’s grooming brand with strong recall in India and globally, focused on hair styling and male hygiene.
- Toni & Guy: A globally recognised salon-led brand offering haircare and styling products.
- Badedas: A German personal care brand known for plant-extract-based bath and body products.
- Matey: A UK-based children’s personal care brand, adding a family and kids-focused segment to RCPL’s portfolio.
Momentum after restructuring
RCPL was demerged from Reliance Retail and became a direct subsidiary of Reliance Industries on December 1, 2025. Since then, it has accelerated brand-led expansion.
The company previously acquired Tamil Nadu-based Velvette, which it has since relaunched with soaps, shampoos, shower gels, body lotions, and talcum powders. RCPL also owns in-house personal care brands such as Glimmer and Get Real, and recently picked up a majority stake in Udhaiyams Agro Foods, expanding its staples and foods footprint.
Financial snapshot
For the December quarter, RCPL reported gross revenue of ₹5,065 crore, up 1.6x year-on-year. Year-to-date revenue for FY26 has crossed ₹15,000 crore, marking 1.8x growth over the same period last year.
Why it matters
With these acquisitions, Reliance Consumer is stacking global heritage brands alongside homegrown labels, signalling a long-term play to become a scaled FMCG powerhouse across beauty, personal care, and food, in India and beyond.
