Fortis Healthcare has strengthened its presence in Bengaluru with the acquisition of People Tree Hospital, a 125-bed facility located in Yeshwanthpur, for ₹430 crore. The transaction was executed through the purchase of 100% equity in TMI Healthcare, which owns and operates the hospital.
As part of the deal, Fortis will acquire the hospital infrastructure, underlying land, and an additional 0.8-acre adjacent land parcel from a third party. The healthcare major also announced plans to invest an additional ₹410 crore over the next three years, taking the total investment to ₹840 crore, to significantly scale operations.
Following the expansion, People Tree Hospital’s capacity will increase from 125 beds to 300 beds, alongside upgrades in medical equipment and clinical programmes, including the addition of radiation oncology services. The hospital is NABH-accredited and offers key specialties such as cardiac sciences, orthopaedics, neurosciences, renal sciences, gastroenterology, and paediatrics.
The acquisition aligns with Fortis Healthcare’s cluster-based growth strategy in Bengaluru, one of India’s most competitive healthcare markets. With this addition, Fortis will operate around 900 beds across seven facilities in the city, including hospitals under operations and maintenance (O&M) agreements.
Commenting on the deal, Fortis Healthcare Managing Director and CEO Ashutosh Raghuvanshi said the acquisition is strategically important and strengthens the company’s leadership position in Bengaluru. Fortis aims to scale its bed capacity in the city to over 1,500 beds within three years.
The move underscores Fortis’ aggressive expansion strategy amid rising demand for quality healthcare infrastructure in urban India.
