Ather Energy Launches Rizta E-Scooter in Sri Lanka, Expands Global Footprint

Electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy has launched its family scooter Rizta in Sri Lanka at the Colombo Motor Show 2025, strengthening its international expansion strategy. The rollout, done in partnership with Evolution Auto Pvt Ltd, marks Ather’s latest step toward building a wider EV ecosystem in the region.

Deepening Presence in a Fast-Growing EV Market

Ather first entered Sri Lanka in December 2024 with the Ather 450X and has since grown to 40 Experience Centres, all operated by its authorised distributor. The company has also deployed Ather Grid fast-charging stations to support reliable and convenient EV usage — a core part of its global expansion playbook.

Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, said Sri Lanka’s response has exceeded expectations. “Since entering Sri Lanka last year, it has quickly become a strong market for us. Expanding our portfolio here with the Rizta was the natural next step,” he said. “The model has already seen strong acceptance in India and Nepal, and we believe it is equally well-suited for Sri Lankan riders.”

The Rizta is designed for family-centric commuting with features such as:

The model aims to appeal to daily commuters seeking a practical, durable and tech-enabled EV.

Expanding International Footprint

Sri Lanka is Ather’s second global market after Nepal, where the company now operates nine Experience Centres and seven Service Centres. Back home, as of September 30, 2025, Ather maintained 524 retail centres and 3,643 fast-charging stations, positioning it among India’s largest EV networks.
