Akasa Air Partners with Uppercase to Launch Eco-Friendly Gear for Cabin Crew

0

In a move that blends employee experience with sustainability, Akasa Air has partnered with eco-lifestyle brand uppercase to launch custom-designed travel gear for its cabin crew. The collaboration sets a new benchmark for design-driven utility in Indian aviation.

Over four months of R&D, uppercase co-created a functional cabin gear kit based on real crew feedback. The result includes a hard-shell cabin stroller and a tote bag, both designed in Akasa’s signature orange, engineered to prioritize movement, convenience, and durability.

Key features include dual wheels, TSA-approved locks, smart compartments for shoes and laundry, and a tote that locks seamlessly onto the stroller. Both items are made in India using RCS-certified recycled materials, aligning with Akasa’s larger sustainability goals.

Unlike standard aviation gear, this collection is purpose-built with direct input from the people who use it daily—focusing on day-to-day practicality rather than just aesthetic branding.

Belson Coutinho, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Akasa Air, said the collaboration reflects the airline’s commitment to its crew and the planet. For uppercase, this is a strong B2B validation of its sustainability-first business model. Sudip Ghose, uppercase’s founder, emphasized the shared values of purpose, design, and environmental responsibility.

Why It Matters

In an industry where conversations around carbon neutrality often focus on fleets and fuel, Akasa Air’s initiative brings attention to the finer details—like the gear cabin crew use every day. It marks a shift from token gestures to meaningful operational choices.

As India’s aviation sector matures, partnerships like this signal a future where design, function, and sustainability are integrated from the ground up.
