At just 17 years old, Medhansh Trivedi, a Class 12 student from the prestigious Scindia School in Gwalior, is turning heads in the tech world with his groundbreaking innovation—a human-carrying drone. Named MLDT 01, the drone is a testament to Medhansh’s ingenuity and determination to contribute to India’s burgeoning technology sector.
Inspired by China’s advancements in drone technology, Medhansh took the bold step of developing his own prototype. “I got the inspiration to make this drone after seeing the drones of China. My teacher Manoj Mishra has helped me a lot technically along with motivation to develop the drone,” Medhansh shared with ETV Bharat.
Technical Marvel: MLDT 01
The MLDT 01 drone, which can transport a person weighing up to 80 kilograms at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour, is an engineering feat. The project was completed in just three months, costing ₹3.5 lakh, and features:
- Length & Width: 1.8 meters
- Power: Four agricultural drone motors with a combined 45-horsepower capacity
- Flight Capability: Can fly continuously for six minutes
- Safety Limit: Currently restricted to a height of 10 meters for safety reasons
With technical guidance and motivation from his teacher Manoj Mishra, Medhansh has created a prototype that blends innovation with practicality.
Vision for the Future
Medhansh’s aspirations go far beyond the MLDT 01. He envisions upgrading the drone to a hybrid model, making it more accessible and versatile for everyday applications. “In future, I will make drones useful for common people which can be used to carry goods, transport a person to another place, and in agriculture,” he said.
His ultimate dream? Establishing an air taxi company and creating affordable helicopters for the masses, aiming to make air transport an everyday convenience rather than a luxury.
Challenges and Ambitions
Medhansh’s journey wasn’t without its challenges. The project required substantial technical understanding and financial commitment, but his dedication and the support of his mentor, Manoj Mishra, made it possible. At such a young age, Medhansh has showcased the potential of India’s youth in leading technological advancements.
Shaping India’s Tech Landscape
Medhansh Trivedi’s innovation highlights the rising potential of young entrepreneurs in India. By harnessing drone technology, he aims to transform industries such as logistics, agriculture, and personal transport. With plans to further develop MLDT 01 and scale his innovations, Medhansh is undoubtedly a name to watch in the startup ecosystem.
