Airport operations technology startup Blunav has raised $1 million in a seed funding round led by Piper Serica, as it looks to modernise airport infrastructure through a unified, cloud based operating system.
The company said the fresh capital will be used for team expansion, product development, and scaling deployments across India and global markets.
Founded by Suseendar Marimuthu and Cherukuru Sridharan, Blunav is building a full-stack Airport Operating System (AOS) that integrates operational workflows, passenger services, and enterprise systems into a single platform.
The startup is targeting a long standing inefficiency in the aviation ecosystem. While smaller airports still rely heavily on manual processes, mid-sized hubs often operate through fragmented vendor systems, and larger airports face challenges with data silos across multiple terminals and systems. Blunav aims to unify these layers into a real-time, connected operational environment.
Its first deployment at Chennai International Airport, under the Airports Authority of India’s Startup India initiative, has already shown measurable impact. According to the company, its Airside Management software reduced runway occupancy time by 22% during a 20-day study covering more than 3,500 flights highlighting efficiency gains in critical airport operations.
Blunav’s platform enables real-time visibility across teams, systems, and passenger touchpoints, helping airports improve operational efficiency, coordination, and passenger experience.
Operating in a niche but globally competitive space, Blunav faces established players such as SITA and Amadeus. However, it is betting on a cloud native, integrated approach tailored for both emerging and mid-sized airport ecosystems.
With air travel demand rising and regional airport infrastructure expanding, solutions like Blunav’s could play a key role in digitising and streamlining next generation airport operations.
