Science-led skincare brand CHOSEN has raised $5 million in a Series A funding round led by Fireside Ventures, with participation from BOLD, Alkemi Growth Capital, and several angel investors including Avnish Anand.

The startup had earlier raised $1.2 million in angel funding in 2024.

The fresh capital will be used to strengthen R&D capabilities, expand its pipeline of clinically validated products, scale its Centre of Excellence, and invest in talent across functions.

Founded in 2020 by Renita Rajan, CHOSEN focuses on science backed skincare for melanin rich Indian skin, based on the concept of the exposome. Its products target key aging factors including pigmentation, texture, contour, and hair aging.

The company follows a dermatologist led, clinic-to-consumer model, combining a B2B network of over 2,000 clinics with a strong direct-to-consumer (D2C) platform. It currently offers around 58 SKUs across topical and nutraceutical categories.

CHOSEN claims to have built its product insights from over 150,000 consultations, with nearly 95% of its online sales coming through its own platform. Around 70% of revenue is driven by repeat customers, particularly among women aged 30–50.

The company is also preparing for international expansion into “skin of color” markets across Latin America and East Asia.

It operates in a competitive segment alongside brands such as Avène, Heliocare, Cetaphil, Sebamed, Shiseido, and Dr. Barbara Sturm.
