Dabur India has laid the foundation stone for its first manufacturing facility in South India, marking a significant expansion of its production footprint. The new plant, located in Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu, will be developed with a total investment commitment of ₹400 crore, of which nearly one-third is already under execution.

The groundbreaking ceremony was virtually performed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, in the presence of senior state officials and representatives from Guidance Tamil Nadu and SIPCOT.

Strategic Expansion into South India

The Tindivanam facility will initially manufacture Dabur’s popular oral care and personal care brands, including Dabur Red Toothpaste, Meswak, Dabur Gulabari, Vatika Hair Oil, and Anmol Hair Oil. In subsequent phases, the plant will expand production to include Real Juices, Amla Hair Oil, and other key brands, positioning it as a critical hub in Dabur’s southern supply chain network.

According to Mohit Malhotra, CEO of Dabur India, the plant represents a decisive step toward enhancing supply resilience and improving speed-to-market in the southern region. By manufacturing closer to consumers, Dabur aims to strengthen operational efficiency while reducing logistics timelines.

Sustainability at the Core

The new facility is being designed as a future ready, environmentally responsible manufacturing unit. It will operate entirely on 100% renewable energy, aligning with Dabur’s long-term sustainability commitments.

Saurabh Lal, Global Operations Head at Dabur India, stated that the plant will integrate advanced manufacturing technologies and promote inclusive employment practices, with a strong focus on women workforce participation.

Employment and Economic Impact

Beyond capacity expansion, the Tindivanam plant is expected to generate around 250 direct jobs and create thousands of indirect employment opportunities in the region. The investment is also set to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s position as a manufacturing destination for leading FMCG companies.

Strengthening Dabur’s Growth Strategy

With this move, Dabur reinforces its long-term growth strategy centered on regional manufacturing, faster distribution, and sustainable operations. The Tindivanam plant is expected to become a cornerstone of Dabur’s southern expansion, supporting scale, agility, and environmental responsibility.
