Nexus Venture Partners Secures $700M to Fuel the Next Wave of Indian & US Startups

Nexus Venture Partners has announced the close of its $700 million Fund VIII, strengthening its position as one of the most active early stage investors across India and the United States. The new fund will primarily support startups in artificial intelligence, enterprise software, consumer tech, and fintech, continuing Nexus’ strategy of backing high potential founders building globally competitive companies.

This raise mirrors the firm’s previous $700 million fund in 2023, signaling consistent investor confidence. Nexus confirmed that Fund VIII will also be deployed into US only ventures, alongside its long standing focus on cross border Indian software companies. The firm is led by general partners Abhishek Sharma and Jishnu Bhattacharjee in the US, with Anup Gupta and Sujan heading operations in India.

Over the years, Nexus has built a strong track record of value creation. The firm has returned around $700 million in cash via partial and full exits, generating $1.5–$2 billion in total liquidity since inception. Notable exits include Delhivery, PubMatic, Cloud.com, Mezi, and Gluster, while its active portfolio features high growth companies such as Zepto, Rapido, Postman, Apollo, and Turtlemint. Nexus continues to hold 13–14% stakes as an early backer in several of these firms.

GP Sujan noted that the fund will maintain an equal focus on India and the US, typically backing 30 companies with a balanced split between digital India and global enterprise software bets. He added that securing “one to two global enterprise AI winners and one to two digital-India winners” would be enough to return the fund multiple times.

Looking ahead, Nexus aims to invest in operationally intensive businesses, pointing to the success of Zepto, Rapido, and Snabbit. The fund is also exploring new opportunities in wealth management, payments, and lending, aligning with emerging trends shaping the next wave of innovation.

This strategic move positions Nexus Venture Partners for a strong new cycle of transformative investments across two of the world’s most dynamic startup ecosystems.
