Alara, the groundbreaking brand using ladyfinger (okra) as its hero ingredient, blends traditional African wisdom with modern skincare innovation.
A Gujarat based entrepreneur, Yogin Sojitra, has invested ₹25 lakhs to create India’s first skincare brand centered around a truly unique ingredient bhindi (okra). Drawing inspiration from traditional African practices, Yogin is set to revolutionize the skincare industry with his brand, Alara.
Yogin’s journey began in the small town of Gondal, Gujarat, where he grew up in a family of tobacco traders. Despite a family legacy in the tobacco business, Yogin always harbored entrepreneurial ambitions and a passion for innovation. After working in various businesses, Yogin found his calling in the skincare industry when he discovered the remarkable properties of okra, also known as ladyfinger.

A Bold Move with Bhindi (Okra)
What makes Alara stand out in a saturated skincare market is its focus on okra. After watching an African woman apply ladyfinger juice to her hair on an Instagram reel, Yogin began researching the incredible skin and hair benefits of okra. From its high vitamin C content to its ability to brighten skin and promote hair growth, okra offered something entirely new.
Investing his savings, Yogin launched Alara in 2023, creating products like Okra Gel, Okra Face Wash, and Okra Gel Shampoo. Combining nature and science, Alara promises an effective and natural solution for skincare and haircare, with okra as its hero ingredient.
Challenges and Triumphs
Building Alara wasn’t without its hurdles. Yogin initially faced challenges with marketing and struggled with performance ads that yielded negative returns. Determined, he pivoted to content marketing, focusing on organic growth through consistent Instagram posts. Despite a tragic setback in 2024 when Yogin lost his cousin and co-founder in a car accident, Yogin persevered. His passion for his product and belief in its potential helped him recover and continue pushing Alara forward.

A Revolutionary Product Line
Alara’s products are crafted with transparency and a focus on natural ingredients, featuring detailed ingredient lists on product pages. Alara’s Okra Gel, touted as the “ultimate hair and skincare formula,” fights acne, balances oil production, and promotes healthy hair. The products, priced between ₹395 and ₹495, offer a premium skincare solution that blends nature and science.
