New Delhi-based electronics contract manufacturer Aimtron Electronics said it expects to generate additional annual revenue of $25–30 million (₹230–275 crore) following its acquisition of US based electronics manufacturing and design services firm ICS.
In a regulatory filing, Aimtron said the acquisition would help the company diversify its operational footprint and mitigate risks arising from tariffs, supply chain disruptions and geopolitical uncertainty, by strengthening its presence in the United States.
Strategic Rationale
ICS provides Aimtron with a manufacturing base in the US, an experienced engineering team and long-term customer programmes. The acquired company operates in the electronic systems design and manufacturing (ESDM) space, serving global OEMs in mission critical and high reliability segments.
“The business has a current revenue base of $16.9 million, and we have clear three-year visibility to scale this to a $25–30 million annual run-rate through capacity expansion and deeper OEM engagements,” said Mukesh Jeram Vasani, founder of Aimtron Electronics.
Deal Structure and Capacity Expansion
Aimtron acquired ICS for under ₹75 crore (around $8 million). The transaction was partly funded through proceeds from ₹100 crore raised via warrants.
ICS operates on a 3.9 acre facility in Decatur, Illinois, with only around 54% of its capacity currently utilised. Aimtron plans to raise utilisation levels to around 90% over the next two to three years, according to the filing.
‘Glocal’ Operating Model
Vasani described the acquisition as central to Aimtron’s “Glocal” strategy, combining US-based engineering and customer proximity with India’s large-scale manufacturing capabilities.
“The acquisition of ICS is a cornerstone of our strategy, combining the engineering precision of the US with the immense scale of our Indian manufacturing ecosystem,” he said.
Growth Targets
Aimtron has set an ambitious target of achieving ₹1,000 crore in revenue over the next three years, with the ICS acquisition expected to play a key role in accelerating international business and OEM engagement.
Why It Matters
The acquisition highlights a growing trend among Indian electronics manufacturers to build overseas capabilities as global customers seek geographically diversified supply chains. For Aimtron, the deal strengthens access to US clients while providing a hedge against trade and geopolitical risks.
