Vipin Kapooria Resigns as Blinkit CFO Over a Year After Joining Quick Commerce Firm

Vipin Kapooria, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Blinkit, has resigned from the quick commerce company, according to sources familiar with the matter. Kapooria’s exit comes a little over a year after he joined the firm in September 2024, marking a key leadership change at a time when competition in the quick commerce sector is intensifying.

Details regarding his successor remain unclear, with no confirmation yet on whether Blinkit will appoint an internal executive or bring in an external hire to lead its finance function. Kapooria is reportedly likely to rejoin Flipkart, where he previously served as Vice President Business Finance, before moving to Blinkit.

Kapooria was appointed as Blinkit’s first full-time CFO, taking over the finance function that was earlier overseen by Amit Sachdeva. Sachdeva had been managing the role before Kapooria’s appointment and later exited Blinkit in November 2024 to join PhysicsWallah, ahead of the edtech firm’s planned initial public offering.

The timing of Kapooria’s departure is notable as quick commerce players ramp up fundraising and prepare for potential public market listings. Rival platform Zepto has filed its draft red herring prospectus through the confidential route and is eyeing a listing in the next calendar year. Meanwhile, Swiggy recently raised ₹10,000 crore through a qualified institutional placement (QIP) to strengthen its balance sheet.

Blinkit, which operates under Eternal, the parent company of Zomato, has also seen fresh capital infusion, with Eternal recently investing ₹600 crore into its quick commerce arm to support expansion and operational scaling.

As the sector moves toward greater financial scrutiny and capital market readiness, leadership stability especially in finance has become increasingly critical. Kapooria’s exit adds to the evolving leadership churn in India’s fast-growing quick commerce ecosystem, where players are balancing rapid growth with tighter financial discipline and investor expectations.
